victor wang

Victor Wang's highly textured and symbolic paintings evoke memories of his childhood in China at a time of cultural revolution.  Repeated images of sunflowers are memories running through giant fields of these great flowers.  Their yellow heads bending towards sunlight became a symbol of the Chinese people following Mao.  Gobs of thick oil paint cover and nearly obscure collaged images of figures from China's Tang Dynasty-a buried representation of his Chinese heritage.
